Business Development Manager - Remarketing

£45,000 - £50,000 50% Bonus

Position Purpose:

A Business Development Manager works to improve market position and contribute to financial growth. This will be achieved by building key client relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of the vehicle remarketing and automotive market conditions. The BDM will work in a senior sales position within the company targeting Indepentdant and franchised dealer prospects. It is their job to work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximise revenue. To achieve this, they need to find potential new clients, present to them, ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow business in the future. They will often be required to make presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict our clients’ future needs across the Group.

 

Key Responsibilities:

New Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Nurture clients through a sales process as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Identify potential clients, and the key decision makers within the client organisation.
  • Set up meetings with client decision makers.
  • Plan approaches and pitches and work with bid team to develop proposals .
  • Participate in pricing the solution.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs to help the business improve on bids.

 

Business Administration

  • Submit weekly progress reports on pipeline and ensure data is accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the Salesforce.com
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Work with bid and marketing staff to ensure that pipeline is nurtured to accelerate sales.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business's vision, it’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the goal and purpose so that you will continual to enhance our performance.

There are no direct reports.

 

Travel Requirements: 

  • Field Based role with expectation to travel
  • Travel to other sites and attend conferences/meetings and training on occasion: Yes
  • Limited international travel required: No

 

Key Performance Criteria:

  • Auction volume driven through the business
  • Return on Investment of other products and services sold
  • Management of pipeline and sales process to ensure there is a constant stream of opportunity
  • Volume of new clients implemented who are long term sustainable partners.

 

Qualifications / Key Requirements / Skills

  • Tenacious, driven individual with a proven record of success in B2B sales
  • Knowledge of the car and commercial vehicle market and our competitors is desirable.
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Good at building and developing relationships at a variety of levels.
  • Be able to research and build relationships with new clients.
  • A good understanding of a sales process and how to build a strong pipeline and nurture clients
  • Knowledge and understanding of CRM systems and what value they add.
  • Have previously worked in a target, SLA and KPI driven environment.
  • Knowledge of Manheim’s product and services would be desirable.
