Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s revenue growth by seeking out and securing new clients, markets, and strategic partnerships. The position involves a range of responsibilities, such as conducting market research, initiating contact with potential clients through cold calling, presenting products or services, negotiating agreements, managing the sales pipeline, and working closely with both marketing and sales teams. Success in this role depends upon excellent communication and negotiation capabilities, as well as strong strategic planning to ensure financial targets are met and business expansion is achieved.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities through a combination of research, networking, and proactive prospecting initiatives.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans that align with the company’s targets and objectives.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with both prospective and existing clients, as well as partners and other stakeholders.
• Carry out market analysis to detect emerging trends, monitor competitor activities, and pinpoint areas for business growth.
• Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations and proposals to attract and secure potential clients.
• Lead negotiations and finalise business deals, ensuring agreements are mutually advantageous.
• Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing and operations, to ensure all client requirements are thoroughly addressed.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to enhance the visibility of its services and brand.
• Monitor and document business development activities, including managing the sales pipeline, producing forecasts, and projecting revenue. Provide regular reports to stakeholders to maintain transparency and ensure objectives remain aligned.
• Devise and implement strategies that underpin the company’s long-term growth goals. This includes analysing current market trends, identifying potential clients, and developing a value proposition that distinguishes the company from its competitors.
Experience and Skills
• Demonstrable experience in business development, sales, or a comparable role.
• Strong commercial acumen and in-depth understanding of market dynamics.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to achieve set targets.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, etc.
• Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and proactive approach to work.
• Willingness to undertake travel as required by the role.
