The Vehicle Procurement Category Managers are responsible for the strategic management of a portfolio of vehicles manufacturers in line with the business.

Procurement Strategy and with the strategies defined at Central Procurement level. The positions are at the core of the Procurement value creation at the business  

 The positions are specifically focused on building, growing and leveraging the business scale as a vehicle buyer through the growth of Tactical / Bulk vehicles procurement and vehicles procured through industry-leading Commit-To-Market / business negotiated terms, by opposition to vehicles procured through Standard or End-User terms.

 

The Vehicle Procurement Category Managers are responsible for a holistic and coherent approach of each manufacturer in portfolio covering all its procurement channels (Tactical, Commit-To-Market/LP, Standard and End-User terms), to develop manufacturer-specific tactics and strategies and implement demand steering to the highest value sourcing options and ‘preferred manufacturers’.

 

The Vehicle Procurement Category Managers is integral to the success of the business through the maximization of Procurement financial contribution, maximization of customer prospect opportunities and supporting profitable fleet growth.

Key Purpose of Role

  • Influence and develop together with the GM and the Head of Procurement  Vehicle Procurement (Manufacturer) strategy to support competitive advantage and profitable fleet growth;
  • Grow the absolute number and share of vehicles procured through Commit-To-Market terms by negotiating industry-leading terms – as close as possible, matching or beating the leading End-User terms;
  • Grow and maximize retained value in Commit-To-Market / LP terms transactions;
  • Grow the absolute number and relative share of vehicles procured through Tactical / Bulk purchases;
  • Grow and maximize Special Offer Contingency (SOC) and Total Contribution in Tactical/Bulk transactions, maximize overall utilization and return on available working capital / exposure limit;
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial to maximize Tactical stock rotation and minimize stock average age;
  • Maximize  retained value through the negotiation of industry-leading rebates and bonuses;
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial to identify opportunities to steer new customers or customer renewals away from Standard and End-User terms by involving itself ahead into the commercial cycle as part of a formal Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process;
  • Identify new business and profit opportunities.
  • Build strong internal relationships with all stakeholders within the business and the Central Procurement organization;
  • Build strong external relationships with Manufacturers at Management and Senior level.
  • Build Manufacturer specific approaches, tactics and strategy, actively steer volumes to the most profitable options and towards ‘preferred manufacturers’;
  • Effectively leverage the Vehicles Procurement Support and VRB teams in cascading objectives, targets and workload; mentor and develop resources within the Vehicles Procurement Support team;
  • Regularly monitor performance against key volume bonus targets and steer demand towards highest value sourcing options;
  • Collaborate closely with Central Procurement Category Managers and implement / contribute to Central Procurement strategies and initiatives;
  • Build detailed market knowledge and competitive intelligence and uses external insights in defining and implementing Procurement strategies, shares such insight with LP management and relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and internal control requirements in all work aspects and especially before taking a sourcing decision;
  • Contribute and input to the development and update of policies and procedures to match with the evolution of the operating model and of the Procurement strategy;
  • Source and produce all relevant information necessary to brief  senior management in their interaction with Manufacturers.
  • Unify the activity and communication with Manufacturers across all areas of the business and champion the vision of a co-ordinated strategy which encompasses the entire vehicle lifecycle.
