General Manager Retail Operations

Reporting to Head of Remarketing

 

Summary:

The General Manager Retail Operations will take the lead role in developing a retail strategy focusing on ‘bricks’ and ‘clicks’ including: identification of site(s), planning & build phase management to ongoing operational excellence in the site(s) delivering against volume and financial targets, whilst also delivering a market-leading digital proposition for the Remarketing of  end of contract vehicles.

 

Key Elements:

1 - Retail network development (from site selection through to launch: encompassing planning, physical build, operational fit-out / capability, launch – working with specialist teams or consultants re planning & physical build)

2 – Ongoing operational management (predominantly volume, financial, conversion, CSI targets) of the retail network through management of on-site teams and overall strategic direction

3 – Lead role in delivering the Digital aspects of the strategy from working with Marketing to create meaningful Advertising and Marketing campaigns, through to developing a social media presence for the retail sites, to optimising digital routes to market.

Detail:

Key elements of the role:

  • Ownership of the Remarketing retail strategy across physical and digital environments
  • Successful launch of the Remarketing retail physical ‘bricks’ strategy against launch plans and timings
  • Development of the Remarketing retail physical ‘bricks’ strategy (Click & Collect model, SMR & ancillaries particularly) to maintain its’ relevance in a changing marketplace
  • Development of the Remarketing retail physical ‘bricks’ strategies’ P&L against pre-defined metrics / targets
  • Lead new retail site(s) build through to launch / operational running of new site(s)
  • Operational project management of new retail builds and operational launches
  • Consistently delivering excellent customer experience through the retail site(s)
  • Lead and manage a controlled sales process through each sites’ team of Sales Managers, Business Managers & Sales Executives, through regular coaching, robust management and constant customer interaction with first and second tier facing activity at its heart
  • Develop and deliver an online presence for the digital showroom
  • Develop and deliver continuous improvements to the digital showroom
  • Develop sales and marketing plans and budgets to achieve agreed financial, marketing and sales objectives
  • Manage all sales campaigns and promotions across all outlets that maximise sales ensuring we uphold the highest ethical standards
  • Manage all marketing / advertising campaigns and promotions across all outlets that maximise sales ensuring maximum return on investment
  • Utilise monthly management accounts to monitor and control profitability of the Sales Department and to take any appropriate action to maximise future opportunities
  • Provide coaching and training to sales people to improve their job performance in the used car market, with emphasis on: customer satisfaction, prospecting and customer follow up, sales process, time management and product knowledge

 

Key Experience Requirements:

  • Motor industry retail experience – must have
  • Experience of launching new dealer sites or being involved in new dealer site openings – desirable to have
  • Experience of operating (Sales Manager level at least) in new sales outlets – desirable to have
  • Strong leadership and people management skills a must as primary focus is to lead teams to deliver their business objectives across multiple locations – must have
  • Awareness and understanding of working in a corporate environment – must have
